The watch is key wind and key set
The key and a small chain are included in this auction
It is in a silver case that I believe to be "coin" grade
The movement cover on the case is signed:
E Chappement a Cylindre Huit Trous Rubis
It is a Bar Swiss style Ebauche Caliber
This movement was popular circa 1830 - 1850
This watch can be dated between 1835 and 1850
It has a crab leg duplex escapement (sometimes called chinese duplex) This escapement was introduced circa 1835
That would make this watch between 155 and 175 yrs old.
Note the 2nd picture taken from page 437 of the Complete Guide to Watches No. 19 printed in 1999 by Cooksey Shugart, Tom Engle and Richard E Gilbert
The movement pictured is identical to this watch.
The watch has a bulls eye crystal.
The crystal has normal wear and tear scratches that still leave this watch in excellent condition he are hardly noticeable
The silver case has engine turning on the back of the case with a blank engraving spot
There is a small ding that can be seen from the back of the case. It in no way takes away from the aesthetic looks of the watch. There is also a small scratch on the movement cover that I believe could be polished out completely.
The dial and hands appear to be in perfect condition.
The dial uses small Roman Numerals and the hands appear to be typical Breguet hands. --Note the typical Breguet hour and minute hands.
