Probably European. Overall length is 10" with a 4" round barrel. Steel frame houses a rotating breechblock which is activated by a lever located underneath the frame. When the lever is swiveled to the side, it exposes the chamber. The projectile can be loaded on the right side of this chamber and the left side has a pin for the attachment of some type of primer device. Top of the chamber is engraved with a monogram which I cannot decifer. The steel frame and barrel are mostly bluish gray in color and are smooth with no pitting. The bore is about .40 caliber. One piece bag shaped walnut grip has considerable figure and shows very little wear. The action is cocked by an unusual cocking device located on the right side of the frame. Cocking device resembles an owl with a tuft of feathers extending out the back of the head which serves as a thumbpiece.
