Volunteer Recognition
First, a belated thanks to Tina Carter for helping to write a story about the OSLHP for the Land Park news in October. Thanks to everyone who participated in the Santa Parade and the merry Christmas Carolers. Jan Sorci provided great musical accompaniment with her tambourine.
Did You Know?
Living on earth is expensive but it does include a free trip around the sun every year.
Past Events
Sacramento Convention Bureau Holiday Party
With good food and cheer this was the kick off for the caroling season. Ray E, Terry E, Jan C, LaMona, Gail, Mary, and myself had a good time serenading visitors and tasting good food.
OSLHP Holiday Party
A great time by all. Members partook in a brunch prepared by Cucina de Amici at the Club House of Terry Nelson’s mobile home park. Terry Eargle had great decoration and a fun time was had with the games.
Christmas Caroling
Except for the weather it was a lot of fun. Father Christmas joined the carolers when the weather cooperated and snow appeared in Old Sacramento. Kids of all ages enjoyed hearing the carols and meeting Father Christmas.
A Taste of History
Although poorly attended by guests, members Roy C, Barbara D, Mary, Gail, and Jan C caroled the night away. The food represented historical themes such as Gold Rush, the Depression among others and our table, beautifully decorated by Becky Rogers, a Victorian Christmas.
After School Program
Earl Warren Elementary The 18 kids are going strong. Except on a rare occasion they are all there waiting to learn about Sacramento history. The kids attend on their own accord and actively participate by doing homework, asking questions and reading aloud. They particularly like the collection of historical toys which are brought to class each week for them to play with. The next in class visit is scheduled for February 3. This will include items from their lesson on etiquette and manners. Perhaps a tea party will be scheduled. Time is 3:45 to 4:30pm. If you would like to volunteer contact Amy at 264-8142.
Important Facts
