Street Performer Historic Attire Guidelines

Thank you for beginning the process of becoming a street performer in Old Sacramento. The following is a guide to historical attire within Old Sacramento. This guide is to help street performers maintain a minimum level of historic attire to help create and maintain the historical atmosphere in Old Sacramento. The Old Sacramento Historic District portrays Sacramento history from 1848 to 1870.

Much of this clothing can be bought at thrift stores. Locally Handley’s Western Wear sells men’s pants, shirts, vests and possibly shoes. They have a very limited selection on women’s historical attire. The Old Sacramento Living History Program has photographs of people wearing historical clothing, Getting Started Guides for men and for women, and additional costume links.
